Dragonwilds Boss Hub — Every Major Boss and How to Beat Them
Published 2026-09-18Updated 2026-09-219 min read
The complete boss index for RuneScape: Dragonwilds — Velgar, Imaru, the vault guardians, dragon types and the five-headed Dragon Queen herself.
Ashenfall's bosses are the peaks of Dragonwilds' power curve — construct generals, undead dragons and, at the very top, a five-headed queen who eats gods. This hub indexes every major boss, their lairs, their power levels, and the guides that break down each fight.

How boss fights work in Dragonwilds
Most major bosses follow the same grammar:
- Summoned or gated encounters. You don't always stumble into bosses — the dragonkin built arenas. Velgar requires crafting a challenge horn from a dragon tooth and metal wire; Imaru's tower is sealed behind three curse fragments; Kuldra waits behind the Dragon Gate in her sanctum.
- Power levels are honest. The ratings (Velgar 4, Imaru 5, Kuldra 9) map to gear tiers; entering a fight two tiers low is a donation, not a duel.
- Instances reset on entry. Bosses respawn with each new instance — challenge horns and seals re-arm — which makes repeat kills a legitimate farming strategy once a fight is mastered.
- Immunities matter. The big dragons shrug off entire damage families (Velgar ignores poison and burning; Imaru ignores poison, burn and bleed). Check the element before you enchant.
The major bosses
General Velgar — the Big High War God
The goblins' god-dragon, Kuldra's most feared general, and the campaign's first true boss at Velgar's Rise in the Fractured Plains. Power level 4, poison breath, meteor barrages, and a wrestling match with Bandos in his past. He also patrols the wild as a world event — respect the skies even outside his arena.
Full strategy: Velgar guide.
Imaru the Soul-Eater — the undead queen of Fellhollow
An undead blue dragon who rules Fellhollow from her tower in Hope's Fall, sealed behind three curse fragments. Power level 5, immune to poison, burn and bleed, and — thanks to the River Noumenon's waters — backed by the underworld itself. She also hunts players who linger too long soul-rifting in the wild.
Full strategy: Imaru guide.
The vault guardians — the dragonkin's constructs
The constructs staffing every dragonkin vault: standard variants (archon, corruptor, hulk, sentinel, incinerator) and the boss tier (overlord, pyroclast, striker), plus named royalty like the Rat King and Plague King. The track runs from power 2 tutorials to power 7 pyramid finals.
Full strategies: Vault guardians guide.
Queen Kuldra — the Dragon Queen, the God Eater
The five-headed ancient black dragon at the top of everything: leader of Ashenfall's dragons, high queen to some of the garou, slayer of the goddess Lougrim, and the final boss of Kuldra's Saga. Her raid arena sits in the Scorned Wilderness behind the Dragon Gate; her power level (9) and her health pool are the largest in the game.

The supporting cast (wild bosses and elites)
Between the named bosses, Ashenfield's wilderness fields its own challenges:
- Wild dragon encounters — green, red and black dragons patrol the regions as world events, each tier nastier than the last.
- Garou King — the lion-folk's sovereign, a mid-game raid-grade threat.
- Blightscale — the blighted wyrm of the poisoned regions.
- Ulgo the Zogre — the zogre champion of the swamp's undead.
- Razlem, the Deranged — Fellhollow's mad horror.
Each follows the same fight grammar as the vault guardians: learn the tells, control the arena, punish the recoveries.
Universal boss preparation checklist
- Match the power level. The rating is a gear check, not a suggestion — arrive at-tier or above.
- Check immunities. Re-enchant weapons away from the boss's immune damage family.
- Eat, rest, top up. Full vitals and a rested bonus before every attempt; the arenas don't provide.
- Stock essence. Control spells and healing carry more value per rune than raw damage in every boss arena.
- Learn the arena. Pillars, edges and choke points are tools; the first minute of any fight is a survey, not a sprint.
- Group roles if you team up. Tank, control, damage, support — the co-op guide covers the split.
The recommended fight order
| Order | Boss | Power | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Vault guardians (tiers 2–4) | 2–4 | Brynmoor & Ghornfell vaults |
| 2 | General Velgar | 4 | Velgar's Rise, Fractured Plains |
| 3 | Garou King / regional elites | 4–5 | The northern wilds |
| 4 | Vault guardians (tier 5) | 5 | Fellhollow vaults |
| 5 | Imaru the Soul-Eater | 5 | Imaru's Tower, Hope's Fall |
| 6 | Vault guardians (tier 7) | 7 | Umbral Sands pyramids |
| 7 | Queen Kuldra | 9 | Dragon Gate, Scorned Wilderness |
Frequently asked questions
Can bosses be refought? Yes — most respawn per instance (new challenge horn, re-collected fragments, or re-entering the Dragon Gate), making mastered fights the best farming in the game.
Are bosses solo-viable? Every boss is tuned solo-capable at-tier. Groups speed kills; they don't change the mechanics.
What's the biggest preparation mistake? Bringing a damage family the boss ignores. Check immunities before crafting runes — one re-enchant beats ten graveyard walks.
